Golf is a great new sport to pick up if you have some extra time on your hands. Not only is golf an excellent way to socialize with friends or family, it’s a wonderful way to get fresh air and enjoy the outdoors. Another great benefit is that you will be exercising your body and your mind, which has been proven to slow the aging process. Apply these helpful hints to your golfing game, and you are sure to find a new love for the game.

You’ll find that your whole body becomes completely engaged when playing golf. Your entire body–not just the arms–should be viewed as a major source of power. Using your entire body to swing your club can really improve your game on the golf course. By putting your whole body into your swing, not only you will take some of the stress off of your arms, your shot will be propelled further.

One of the most important things to consider when starting to learn a golf swing is to how to incorporate a proper grip. Many people think gripping a club hard can make the ball go further. However, it’s best to use a firm, yet gentle grip. Imagine that you are cradling a wounded bird and use the same care to grip the club.

If you wiggle your toes a little before you swing this can tell you about your posture. If your feet are easy to move, you’re leaning too far from the ball. You should lean into the ball so that your feet can move just a little bit, but not excessively.

Always focus all of your concentration on the next shot. Do not let the previous successful or unsuccesful shot, or the upcoming water hazard, take you away from the hit you are about to make. Thinking about past mistakes or future actions takes your mind off the swing, so do your best to just move on and forget about them.

A great tip for putting is when you address the ball, your left hand needs to be in front of the ball. Sustain this position as you take your swing and follow through on your stroke. This will help hold the club during your stroke and prevent the ball from jumping off the face of the club at contact.

For a powerful swing, use all the muscles in the body, especially your core and leg muscles. Use your legs to power your swing and swing your body in a whip-like motion.

For a drive swing, align the ball with your front foot. Every other shot requires that your ball is between your feet as you swing. If you are hitting while on a slope, you will want to avoid centering the ball.

If you are mentally prepared it can be very important, just as crucial as being in shape when you are golfing. Leave all the stress in your life elsewhere for just a while and concentrate on the game at hand.

If you are investing in an expensive new golf club, having it custom-fitted may be a good choice. The right golf club needs to be suited to your weight, height, and body structure. If your club is well-suited to your body and style, your swing will improve.

You should always make sure before you swing that you hold the golf club properly. Make sure the handle is resting against your palms while your thumbs point downward. In addition, your hands should be touching one another at this point. On idea to get a little extra distance is to choke up a little bit, leaving space at the end of the grip.

As stated above, golf is a great sport to get both physical and mental exercise while hanging out with friends outdoors. So, if you are looking forward to taking up an engaging new sport, look no further. These easy tips will help you start playing golf and be on your way to a happier, healthier you.
